Azelis South Africa recently held the Action Africa Conference themed Smart Choices – Empowering Africa’s Lubricants Future in Johannesburg, in November 2025. The conference brought together industry leaders and technical experts from Africa, the USA, the UK, France, Germany, Dubai, and Zambia, with a focus on equipping lubricant blenders with the knowledge and tools to make performance-driven formulation decisions in a rapidly evolving market.

The conference featured sessions on base oil quality, innovations for durability and compliance, advanced gear oil technologies, and next-generation formulation trends. Discussions also highlighted the importance of regional partnerships, reinforcing local value creation as a key driver for growth. Local solubilization of viscosity index improvers, which helps reduce reliance on imports and improve cost & flexibility for regional blenders, was another key topic. Evonik Oil Additives, Chevron Phillips, Chevron Oronite, Chevron Base Oil, and BASF provided insights on the importance of driving higher quality.

“Interactive elements like the ‘Know Your Oil’ Challenge and networking sessions added practical value, making Action Africa 2025 not just a knowledge-sharing platform but a catalyst for collaboration, sustainable & meaningful growth,” said Azelis South Africa.

Azelis has held several Action Africa conferences across Africa to promote knowledge sharing in lubricant quality and formulation to meet the continent’s unique lubrication needs.
