TotalEnergies recycles used lubricant bottles

otalEnergies Marketing Ghana (TEMG) has partnered with Miniplast, a leading plastic recycling company, to tackle lubricant bottle waste and transform it into valuable products. This collaboration focuses on collecting lubricant bottles from service stations and recycling them into durable, functional items such as chairs, buckets, and much more.
Through this partnership, TotalEnergies and Miniplast are addressing waste pollution; while demonstrating the significant role corporations can play in combating the global plastic waste crisis. In 2024, the partnership achieved significant results, collecting over 8,800 lubricant bottles weighing more than 2,128 kilograms from service stations in the Greater Accra Region. These bottles were recycled into functional items, including tables and chairs. Some of these items were donated by Miniplast to various service stations and the Head Office.
Looking ahead, TotalEnergies plans to expand its collection stations in 2025 to further boost recycling efforts and increase the volume of lubricant bottles diverted from landfills. This initiative reinforces TotalEnergies’ commitment to sustainability and its ongoing efforts to contribute to a greener future. Miniplast Ltd. is a Ghanabased company specializing in plastic product manufacturing and recycling. Founded in 1988 as a family-owned business, Miniplast has built extensive expertise in plastic injection and blow molding, utilizing both virgin resin materials and recycled plastic pellets. Today, the company manufactures and exports a wide range of plastic products for commercial, industrial, and household use. In 2020, Miniplast launched its plastic recycling business unit.
The recycling process begins with the collection of industrial waste and post-consumer plastics, which are meticulously shredded and washed. The cleaned material is then melted and extruded into high-quality recycled plastic pellets. These pellets are reintegrated into Miniplast’s production cycle or supplied to third-party manufacturing companies, contributing to a circular economy and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices. .
