T otalEnergies Lubricants has acquired fire-resistant hydraulic fluid product lines from German Manufacturer Fluid Competence. The deal supports TotalEnergies’s sustainability goals by extending its product portfolio with a mineral oil-free and low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions fluid that provides high performance for safetycritical applications in steel, mining, and tunneling.

The agreement covers the Corsave (water-based) and Lubsave (water-glycol-based) hydrous fire-resistant fluids. This makes the two among the few fluids in the high-quality

HFA-group (safety hydraulic fluids with a high-water content of over 90%) and HFC-E-group (water-glycol hydraulic fluids that contain around 40% water) categories, respectively.

Rainer Keiemburg, Vice President for Industrial Lubricants at TotalEnergies Lubricants, said: “Bringing Fluid Competence’s HFC-E(since end 2023) and now adding HFA business on board is an exciting step in our strategy to grow our range of specialty fluids and offer customers safer and sustainable solutions. Fluids are already available and popular for customers needing ultimate safety and reliability when operating hydraulic systems at high temperatures and pressures in tough environments.”

The fluid’s primary advantage is its fire resistance specifications, which ensure the safety of frontline workers and process continuity. The fluid also offers good anti-wear performance and good corrosion protection. Together, these properties enhance equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs. Dieter Mantwill, CEO of Fluid Competence, said: “Working with TotalEnergies Lubricants allows us to expand our global customer reach while continuing to innovate and certify high-performance lubricants.” Fluid Competence’s core functions are the development, sales, and technical services of functional and technical fluids for different industries and customers. The development of new products is focused on mineral oil and bio-oil-free products. .
