The ISO 9001:2015 certified plant has a capacity of 200 million litres per annum, which is about 50% of Nigeria’s annual lubricant consumption, estimated to be at about 364 million liters. The plant also produces 3.2 million kilogram of grease per annum and has a Tank storage capacity of 3.2 million kilogram of grease per annum, 6 million litres of coolants and a Tank storage capacity of 20 million Litres of base oil and additives. The plant produces monograde, multigrade lubricants and sodium grease, with plans to produce synthetic lubricants and lithium greases in the near future.
Speaking at the event, Sayyu Dantata said the plant will contribute to foreign exchange generation for the country through product export, as well as meet the needs of other neighbouring countries.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari while inaugurating the facility said:“The new Bestaf Lubricant blending plant at MRS Holdings Limited is a testament to the provision of an enabling environment. The lubricant plant, which covers the whole value chain of lubricants and the first of its kind in West Africa, will prevent the importation of sub-standard products, stop capital flight, and contribute to the generation of foreign exchange for the country, through products exported by Bestaf. This plant will go a long way in ensuring that the plants and machinery used in Nigeria have extended life from using high-quality lubricants.”
